Alua was born at Piod, Mua Island, and died in Kubin, Mua Island.
He married Matilda (Nee: Brown) from Mapoon, Western Cape, and they had four children. Their children are Lizzie Nawia (Nee: Savage), born 18 February 1912; Napata Benny Savage, born 24 December 1913 in Poid on Mua Island and died 8 January 2002 on Thursday Island, married to Mobee (Murray Island); Nazerath Passi (Nee: Savage), and Fred Mislam Savage, born 5 January 1917 and died 2 February 2007 (age 90), married Danie Seriat.
